Greenbrier Still a Classic

The Greenbrier Classic is underway, and this weekend looks to be perfect playing conditions for some great golf.  Brendon de Jonge is already off to a great start, taking the early morning lead of the first round shooting 5-under par for a 65 to open.  Of course, that pales in comparison to the legendary Sam Snead who shot the first ever 59 recorded during tournament play at what was then known as the Greenbrier Open in 1959.  Snead’s performance that round is still one of the most spectacular of all time in golf.

De Jonge and the rest of the tournament hopefuls have a lot to live up to as always at the Greenbrier Resort.  I for one am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
