The Focus of Golf and Martial Arts

In martial arts, we work a lot on targets, especially with focus mitts. We do this to simulate hitting a target at will. This is a very important drill in martial arts because you can have the most effective technique in the world, but if you cannot hit the target that great technique is thrown out the window.

The Practice Shot

Golf is very similar — you can have the best swing in the world and have the best ball striking ability, but if you do not aim correctly and hit your target, all of that great ability is for not. In Black Belt Golf we work on both focus on the martial arts side (hitting the target) when we practice and focus on the fairway or the pin (hitting on the driving range or golf course). Now of course when you practice you are not going to hit the target both in martial arts and golf each and every time; the point of Black Belt Golf is to improve on that focus so that, over time, hitting the targets with kicks and golf shots increases with effective practice in both.

If this info is helpful, the White Belt Lesson Book and DVD are available on this website to help improve the golfer’s mental and physical game more efficiently.
