Stretching Out

By now, most golfers know that stretching

is very important for flexibility and mobility which will allow the golfer to swing the golf club with more power and balance.  What most golfers do not realize is that when you stretch, you really need to start off slowly and then build up the intensity of the stretching exercises.  Even if you are warmed up first (which is part of the Black Belt Golf System) the golfer should start the stretching exercises around a 2 to 3 intensity level on a scale of 10.  As a few minutes go by, the golfer can increase the intensity level to 4 or 5.  At about 5 to 6 minutes, the intensity can get go higher to about 6 or 7.  Around that level of stretching, the golfer should be sweating a little.  Most people and golfers do not realize that if you are properly stretching, your body temperature increases during the stretching exercise and for most people, they will be sweating.  This is a very good thing because the more you are stretching the more warm your body becomes and when your body temperatures increases, sweat will start occur.

As far as the intensity level goes with stretching, everybody is different, some golfers might not be able to stretch for a long time because they have not built themselves up to do a high intensity stretching session.  For those people, be patient, if you can stretch a little more each day or every other day, you too can build yourself up to reach the higher intensity levels were your body is sweating.  In the Black Belt Golf DVD The White Belt Lesson, there are some very basic stretching exercises to get started with for the person that does not have a lot of stretching experience.

Stretching is one of the most important things to keep your muscles healthy, limber, and strong.  If the exercises are done properly, it really can prevent the golfer from being injured.  Part of the Black Belt Golf System is teach different stretching exercises for the student so they are stretching out all of the muscles in the body. We use all of our muscles in the golf swing so it makes it very important for the golfer to stretch out all of the muscles in the body.  In the DVD The White Belt Lesson, we have a special back exercise that we do.  This exercise really works most of the muscles in body even though we mention specifically the back muscles.
