Why Do Golfers Need to Exercise?

The other day I was watching an older gentleman hitting golf balls on the driving range and as I was watching him I noticed that he was not able to move to his left side at all. After talking with him, I came to find out that he had hip replacement surgery. He said that he had that surgery quite a while ago and that his main focus on the down swing was to turn his hips. I told him that he was not getting his weight to his left side at all and he was shocked because he really felt like he was. It was ironic for him because as stated earlier, that was the only thing that he focused on.

We can all have the best intention in our minds of what makes a good golf swing, but it is unfortunate that there are so many golfers out there that just cannot do what they need to physically. This is what separates Black Belt Golf — through specific training exercises that do not need with bands, gym membership or anything else of its kind, we teach you how to use your body in exercising so when you need the muscles to work for your golf game, they can work the way you want them to work.

The best example that I can give is if you had a high performance car that was capable of reaching high speeds but if you just leave it in 1st gear, than you are really not going to get the maximum benefit out of the car. So it goes with your body, if you are not willing to move and do some basic exercises between 15 to 20 minutes a day 2 to 3 times per week, then you are going to continue to have the same issues and problems that you are having with your physical capabilities.

Another great example which also just happened recently on the driving range, I was speaking to golf pro who is approaching his 40’s and he told me that he is starting to develop shoulder issues and back problems. He is like most golfers; he does not want to spend much time on this and does not want to join a gym. Well I told him that if he could work on these issues 5 to 10 minutes a day at home would it be worth it to him to not have these current issues. He agreed that it would be worth his time to do that. I suggested to him that he get some 5 pound dumbbells and the back exercises he needed comes from my DVD The White Belt Lesson which can be done at home.

I think most golfers out there are confused, they think that it takes hours of training and really expensive memberships to get to where they need to be. If you are a professional golfer that is hitting thousands of balls per week and playing lots of golf, then that golfer probably needs access to a full gym and personal training help but the average golfer that plays twice a week and does not hit a lot of golf balls really only needs 20 minutes 2 to 3 times per week of the right exercises to keep their body from pain and getting hurt.

There is an old saying, what you put in is what your will get out, which holds very true in golf! So if you put nothing in to your physical condition or strength training then you cannot realistically expect to have your body performing at its best but if you put in 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times per week you will notice a difference right away.
