The Memorial
Jack’s Tournament was this weekend and in the end, Steve Stricker was able to hold off and win. Steve had an amazing with an ace on a par 3, a duce on a par 4 and a 3 on a par 5 to make it 3 eagles for the week. On Sunday, Steve shot a 30 on the front nine and was in total control, but very similar to Saturday’s play he could not make a birdie on the back nine and this really brought a lot of the field back into play because there was plenty of low scoring on Sunday. In the end Steve managed to hold off and win his biggest title of his career.
I believe this should give Steve a lot of confidence going into the U.S. open. It should be interesting to watch Steve as the U.S. Open approaches. With competition so deep now days, I am sure that Steve is very happy to win at Memorial, it will give him some breathing room for the next couple of years. Hopefully he can play well in one of the upcoming Majors.
On the Champions Tour, Mark Brooks was in contention for the first time in long time. He made bogey on the last hole and fell to Bob Gilder. It was still good to see Mark contending for a tournament.
